Rye Fire Department Rescues Hiker from Mud at the Marshlands

The Rye Fire Department made a rescue on a hiker stuck in the mud on the night of Tuesday, July 8, at the Marshlands Conservancy on Boston Post Road. The FD released the following statement on July 10 regarding the rescue:

“On July 8th, 2024, at 9:35 pm, the Rye Fire Department was dispatched to the Marshlands Conservancy at 220 Boston Post Road for a hiker stuck in the mud. The Westchester County Police Department received a 911 call from the individual and were able to ping their phone to determine a general location. Members of the Rye Fire, Rye Police and Westchester County Police Departments coordinated efforts to locate the subject. The party was found by personnel on foot, removed, and transported by boat to the American Yacht Club dock for evaluation by Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS at 10:07pm.

Mutual aid from Rye Brook and Port Chester stood by in their quarters to cover any additional calls. Firefighters also utilized their utility task vehicle, Utility 159, to aid in the search.”
