The Rye Spring Track and Field Team hosted their fourth meet of the season on Saturday, April 26, and the girls team clinched a first place overall victory. The Garnets dominated, topping second place Irvington by 33.5 points. The boys also fared well, with a third place finish out of a field of twelve schools, falling just 9.5 points short of first.

“This was the third annual Rye Relays meet, and it was definitely one of the biggest meets that we’ve had with a very high level of competition,” Head Coach Bryan Johnson told MyRye.com. “The meet honors the contributions of Coaches Jim Yedowitz and John “Mitty” McGee, who served many years as the coaches of the Garnets.”

The Garnets did well to honor the two gentlemen with stellar performances on both sides, highlighted by eight individual event and three team relay medalists combined.

On the girls side, Rye scored 86.5 points as a team, with Irvington (53) and New Rochelle (51) trailing well behind. The boys trailed those two schools when the meet ended, with the scores being Irvington at 68, New Rochelle at 67.33, and Rye at 58.5.

With two top three finishes, the Garnets had plenty of hardware to show for their weekend efforts at Nugent Stadium. Here were their medalists on the day (20 total, 18 unique individual athletes):
