A rabid raccoon was gunned down this afternoon by two Rye police officers. Responding to a Bradford Avenue location and warning some residents to stay inside, the two officers pumped six rounds of lead into the rabid Ranger Rick. While this writer has no issue sending our rabid friend to “sleep with the fishes”, law enforcement off’ing raccoons in suburban backyards is, well, just a little strange and maybe a little dangerous.
Tax payer cost of six rounds of Rye Police ammo?: $2.85 Rabid Ranger Rick with his four legs pointed skyward?: Priceless.
