Historical Photos of Playland Amusement Park

Dsc01879(PHOTO: A parking booth at Playland Amusement Park in 1930.) The next time you are in downtown Rye, wander over to the second floor of 16 School Street. Along the hall way of this modest office building, which housed Rye’s public school in the early 20th century, are fabulous historical photos of Playland Amusement Park dated from 1915 to 1942. Take a peek at these photos in our Playland history photo album.

The Playland fountain, Dragon Coaster and ice rink look virtually identical today when compared to photos from 1928. One thing is very different – in 1930 parking at Playland was $0.50.
