Politicos Flood Rye to Inspect Flood Damage
Monday morning brought a different type of flood to Rye – politicians and media. Local politicos descended on our fair city to inspect the wrath Hurricane Irene left on the business district and Purchase Street.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Nita Lowey joined County Executive Rob Astorino, Rye Mayor Douglas French, and Rye Firefighters and Police personnel for a tour of the flood damage to the Rye Business District caused by Hurricane Irene. State Assemblyman George Latimer, County Legislator Judy Myers and Rye Councilwomen Paula Gamache and Catherine Parker also joined.
The officials have been in contact with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and will be working to ensure that the Hudson Valley receives disaster aid.
