Rye PD is collecting toys now through December 20th for the marine Corps reserve Toys for Tots program. Local residents can drop an unwrapped, new toy off 24/7 at Rye PD Headquarters (21 McCullough Place, Rye) or Rye City Hall (1051 Boston Post Road from 9am – 4pm Monday – Friday).
We hope MyRye.com readers will help contribute some holiday joy!
We heard from Sgt. Lou Olivier over at Rye PD who gave us and update on the program:
"This is the 4th year that we have participated in the Toys for Tots Campaign with the Marine Corps. Rye PBA is proud to take part in this wonderful program that benefits children of all ages. The program is simple; participants bring a brand new unwrapped toy for kids up to age 18, to one of our drop off locations. The two active sites are City Hall and the lobby of the Police Station which is open 24 hrs.
Last year we had an overwhelming response from citizens of our City and had to make frequent trips to the Toys for Tots drop off site, a task we gladly undertook. This year the program started earlier to help deliver even more toys to kids in need. We are already filling up our locations and making a child’s holiday season a little brighter. Our goal is to exceed each previous year’s donation totals.
The Rye PBA is proud of our charity participation, not only for Toys for Tots but we are committed to giving back more to the community and surrounding area in 2012."
