915 More: Rye City “Conned” Update

City of Rye Update, Thursday evening:

CITY OF RYE CON ED UPDATE 

Con Edison reports that there are approximately 915 outages in the City of Rye, or 15% of its customers, as of November 8th. Oakland Beach Avenue is closed east of Milton Road due to a low hanging high voltage wire. Because repair of that wire will be a labor-intensive operation and will require a temporary shutdown of power, it has been deferred so that resources can be devoted to the residential restoration effort. All other roads are open.

Con Edison’s Control Center is directing the priority of restoration work. Please check www.coned.com for the status of your restoration.

Con Ed’s Restoration Management System makes automated calls to customers when a service feeder has been restored. If you receive such a call and your service has not been repaired, which can happen when an individual house connection has been damaged, it is important to call 1-800-75CONED to report that you are still without power so repairs can be scheduled.

A Multi-Purpose Hurricane Sandy Recovery Center has been opened at the Westchester County Center in White Plains. Beginning Friday, the Recovery Center will operate from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., seven days a week, until further notice. Con Edison representatives will be available at the Center to answer customers’ questions about individual outages and restoration progress. The City’s overnight shelter at Rye Golf Club, 330 Boston Post Road, will be open from 9:00 P.M. Thursday to 9:00 A.M. Friday. A Warming Center will operate from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday.
