G Day Organizer Linda Bonaventura Recognized by Rye Board of Ed

Linda Bonaventura, organizer of the first ever G Day in early April, was recently recognized by the Rye Board of Ed for her efforts to make the day a reality:

Bonaventura"Board of Education Vice President Katy Keohane Glassberg presented, on behalf of the Board, an Extra Mile Award to Linda Bonaventura. Mrs. Bonaventura was instrumental in the successful planning and organization of the District's first ever "G Day" Weekend held on April 5 and 6. After seeing the success of a similar event held at another high school, Mrs. Bonaventura brought the idea to Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics Robert Castagna. Through her efforts, outreach, and follow up, the two-day event was a great success, featuring a series of athletic games that brought the Rye community together.

Mrs. Bonaventura was involved every step of the way as preparations were carried out, communicating the details of the event to the booster organizations, parents, coaches and all others who played a role. During G Day Weekend, booster organizations raised an estimated $3,500 for High School athletic facilities.

Mrs. Bonaventura has supported the District's athletic program in many ways over the years; with one son who is a multi-sport Rye High School athlete as well as other children who have graduated, she has offered her time to groups including the Athletic Advisory Council, Rye Lacrosse Association, Rye Football Association, and Hockey Booster Organization."
