Week+ Later, City Council Winners Comment

Using extreme caution, two of the recent city council winners wanted to hold back comment while the results were in the process of becoming "official" and finalized. After telling MyRye.com they "have analyzed the absentee information and the odds are low that anything will change," Emily Hurd and Danielle Tagger-Epstein released the following statement:

"Danielle and I are thrilled with the City Council election results. From the start, the campaign was exciting as both the Republican and Democratic tickets gave Rye voters a choice of six qualified candidates. We are proud of the strong, positive campaign that we ran with guidance and advice of the Rye Democratic Party. Endorsements by both the Independence Party and Working Families Party were also key in bringing in the votes needed to win.

Since the unofficial votes have been tallied, Danielle and I have transitioned from campaign into City Council member-elect mode. We are following closely the budget process underway at City Hall so that we are prepared to get to work immediately after we are sworn in on January 1. And we eagerly anticipate rolling up our sleeves and getting started as City Council members in the new year. We look forward to working closely with Richard Mecca, Mayor Sack and the rest of the Council."
