Rye Town Park Looks for 10-20 Year Restaurant Tenant

The current occupant, Ocean Grill, has only been invited to stay for a year.

But Rye Town Park would like to cozy up to a single restaurant in a contract lasting 10-20 years. That's a long term relationship, and Rye Town Park is looking to figure out its long term mate in under 60 days.

The park is looking for responses to its RFP by August 28th.

The Rye Town Park Commission (RTPC), has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) to operate the park’s on-site restaurant, beachside snack bar and concession stand located at the north gate of the beach.

RTPC’s primary interest is in developing a relationship with a party that can develop food and beverage offerings that complement and enhance the overall guest experience at the Park, and help update and maintain the restaurant facilities throughout the life of the license.

People may recall the Commission ran a highly successful RFP process one year ago to secure a short-term licensee for the summer of 2017. This resulted in an agreement with the current Ocean Grille which began operating the park restaurant this past spring. A Nathan’s franchise is currently installed in the snack bar and North Gate concession. This new RFP process will establish a food and beverage provider with license to operate the park’s facilities for a contract term of 10 to 20 years.

The RFP process is being implemented by the Commission’s Restaurant Steering Committee working in conjunction with JGL Food Service consultant company . The next event in the RFP timeline is a mandatory pre-proposal conferences on July 24 at 10 am or 3 pm. Prospective bidders can sign up by contacting Tracy Lawler at 732 274-1964 or to [email protected]. They must sign up by Thursday, July 14th

Rye Town Park is a 62-acre greenspace and beachfront, with seasonal swimming and year-round use for passive and semi-active events. The park has been operating since 1909.
