The FBI National Academy is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement managers nominated by their agency heads because of demonstrated leadership qualities. Participation is by invitation only. Participants are drawn from every U.S. state and territory and from international partner nations.
Since 1935, the National Academy has trained and graduated 50,365 law enforcement executives. Training for this highly selective program is provided by the FBI Academy instructional staff, which is a cadre of Special Agents from the FBI, DEA and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their field of expertise.
The 10-week, in residence program,—which provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, media relations, criminal investigations and forensic science—serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.
Commissioner Michael C. Corcoran, Jr. stated, “Lieutenant Anfuso is a dedicated law enforcement professional and proven leader. I am extremely proud of Mike and am very fortunate to have him as a member of our command staff.” He is an outstanding police officer who is well respected by his peers and subordinates. As an FBI National Academy graduate, Lieutenant Anfuso is now part of a select group made up of less than one percent of law enforcement leaders worldwide.
Corcoran added that Rye PD has built a wonderful partnership with the FBI. "We will look to continue this partnership and are planning for additional members of the Rye Police Department’s command staff to attend what is considered to be the premier training course for police leaders worldwide,” said Corcoran.
