Playland Promo Video – Called a “Documentary” in PR Push (Please!)

The Westchester political machine, after ousting Standard Amusements from their future involvement with Rye Playland, continues to amp up the PR love for the Rye amusement park by the water.

The latest PR release is about a short "documentary" on the park. We'd call it a promotional video with some cool old historical photos. It's still fun, but there is little reason to push the boundaries of believably by calling a five minute video raving about the park something more than it is.

We like it anyway. Watch the video and read the PR from the county:

"PLAYLAND PARK: THEN AND NOW

A Look Back At Westchester County’s Historic Amusement Park

(Rye, NY) – Playland has been Westchester County and the New York Metropolitan areas’ great family amusement park and entertainment center since 1928. For the 2019 season, the Park welcomed many new, exciting events and promotions – including the opening of a new ride for the first time in 11 years – named “Dragonator” – a collaboration with ArtsWestchester and the Westchester Parks Foundation for a public art display, the first new commercial in 10 years, the welcoming of “Town Days” to promote community and 11 new musical acts. With all of this, and a refreshed mascot, new approach to marketing and PR focused heavily on metrics – historic Rye Playland is making a comeback.

In honor of Playland’s Banner Year, Westchester County Government produced a short documentary on the history of the Park called Playland: Then And Now. Take a look back on the very first planned amusement park in the entire country – our very own Playland Park."
