In Wake of COVID-19, Rye Bar & Grill Lays Off 70, Closes for Now
In the wake of COVID-19, Rye Bar & Grill has let go its 70 employees and – at least for now – closed its doors. It has also created an online fundraising page for its employees, looking to raise $50,000 for laid off staff.
In a message posted online Monday, it said "COVID-19 has closed Rye Grill & Bar's doors for the foreseeable future, forcing us to lay off all 70 of our beloved staff. Many people have asked how they can help support our amazing staff, who, like so many in this industry, were forced out of work over night. Please consider donating to our staff during these trying times. Every dollar counts. No donation is too small. Thank you so much for your support. Our best wishes for the safety of your own families and hope to see you soon."
The fundraising page (find it here) showed $1,230 dollars raised of the $50,000 goal as of Tuesday afternoon. The page was created by Michael Fabry, the managing partner of Rye Bar & Grill and an executive at the Pearl Restaurant Group.
