Rye FD responded to a fire at 40 Cedar Place on Thursday afternoon in the Kirby Point neighborhood of Rye. Rye PD posts reported a multiple story dwelling fire at the five family residential unit “Upon arrival, @ryefirefighters were already on scene doing what they do best. The fire was put out with the assistance of numerous surrounding agencies. All tenants were evacuated safely and no injuries are reported.”
Amid the sad news of a house fire, the Rye FD may have found a future recruit. A young lady named Ali used her instincts to fight the fire with her neighbor’s garden house. The heroic action was captured on video (see below) and Rye FD commended her actions: “If you are looking for hope in this world, look no further than the actions of this young woman, Ali, who chose to fight a fire with her neighbor’s garden hose. Thank you Ali for your incredible act of bravery at this house fire today in #RyeNY”
