Patron Arrested at Rye Grill & Bar for Drunken Disorderly Conduct, Two Rye PD Officers Injured
A patron was arrested at the Rye Grill & Bar for drunken disorderly conduct, and during the arrest two Rye police officers sustained injuries.
On Wednesday, July 15th after 10pm, the restaurant, just around the corner from Rye PD headquarters, called the front desk at the station requesting assistance in removing a disorderly customer. All units responded. During the arrest, Officer Staffiero sprained his left wrist while handcuffing the suspect and Officer Torres injured his left shoulder while handcuffing the same single suspect.
Rye PD did not release the name of the suspect, but did say the suspect was a white male, age 32, from North Salem. The suspect was charged with disorderly conduct, assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He was expected in court on Tuesday, July 28th.
The office of the District Attorney has not responded to request for comment.
I am curious to know the grounds upon which Rye PD would refuse to identify a person arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest AND that the arrest resulted in the injury of two police officers.
This makes zero sense.
