Girls Varsity Soccer in 5-0 Win Over Sleepy Hollow

Rye Sports Girls Varsity Soccer at Sleepy Hollow 10-19-2020

Rye Girls Varsity Soccer moved to a 2-0 season on Monday with a 5-0 win at Sleepy Hollow.

“The leadership of senior captain Meredith Tutun helped the Garnets dominant performance against Sleepy Hollow,” said Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “She finished the game with three assists and a solid defensive performance.”

Visiting Rye Girls’ soccer had a balanced win over Sleepy Hollow. With the score of 5 – 0, Rye had 5 different people contributing goals for the win. Zoe Rockas Gabe the Garnets an early 1-0 lead off a nice shot. Freshman Mali White added the second goal to give the Garnets a 2-0 lead in the first half. Annabelle Thomas started the scoring in the second half with a nice shot, while senior Clara Gallagher added a nice header goal.

Despina Sfiris added the final goal for Rye. Senior tri captain Meredith Tutun added 3 assists, while freshman Maddy Walsh added an assist. Keepers Bell Jackson and Amanda Latkany each had 3 saves to preserve the shutout.
