Girls Varsity Soccer Wins 1-0 in Season Opener Against Harrison

In one of the first athletic competitions for the season, Rye Garnet Girls Varsity Soccer won its season opener 1-0 at Harrison late Saturday afternoon.

“After being fouled in the penalty box, Riley Traynor capitalized on a penalty kick for the Garnets early in the first half,” said Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “The Garnets were able to hold onto the lead with standout performances from freshman backs Sage Ruttenberg and Isabel Harvey. Sophomore Bell Jackson was solid in the net for the Garnets opening win.”
