On Thursday afternoon, County Executive George Latimer abruptly postponed his annual 2020 State of the County Address scheduled for 7pm Thursday evening after a County Legislator tested positive for COVID-19.

Latimer took the opportunity to poke at President Trump: “Unlike what we have seen out of officials in Washington, D.C., here in Westchester we believe in science, we believe in medicine and we believe in trusting their years of experience-based guidance. While it is disappointing, it is the safe and prudent move to postpone this speech.”

The county executive branch works closely with the legislative branch. Latimer’s office in the Michaelian Office Building in White Plains is on the 9th floor. The legislators have offices on the 8th floor. Westchester County Legislator David Tubiolo of Yonkers was the one who reportedly tested positive.

Latimer was immediately tested with the “standard swab test”. Later in the day his press office reported Latimer received a negative result following his own Covid-19 test. “The County Executive will continue to quarantine as required. We wish Legislator David Tubiolo of Yonkers a speedy recovery,” said the press statement.
