Soul Ryeders, the local group supporting those impacted by cancer, is launching its 7th annual TieTheTownPink campaign.

Soul Ryeders TieTheTownPink 2020Always highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the goal this year is to tie communities together in support of anyone affected by any type of cancer, regardless of age or gender. The secondary goal of this campaign is to emphasize the importance of annual cancer screenings. Because of the pandemic, many have cancelled or delayed essential annual medical check-ups, mammograms, skin cancer and other screenings.

Started in 2014 by Rye Youth Council’s Lisa Dominici and Berkshire Hathaway Home Services’ Susan Janart, and joined later in 2016 by healthcare executive Joie Cooney, TieTheTownPink is one of Soul Ryeders’ most successful campaigns in both the donations it brings to the organization, as well as the legions of volunteers ages 6 – 86 working together to deliver and tie hundreds of ribbons first day of October.

Last year more than 140 businesses participated in the campaign by purchasing ribbons to show their support. Recognizing the strain the COVID-19 pandemic has had on local businesses, Soul Ryeders is donating ribbons to those businesses that have supported its TieTheTownPink campaign over the last two years as a thank you.
