“Very Troublesome” – Two More COVID Cases at Rye High Wednesday

“The increase in the number of cases at Rye High School is very troublesome,” said Rye schools boss Eric Byrne as he notified the school community of two more COVID cases at Rye High School Wednesday night. “While COVID-19 rates are increasing in our area, it’s critically important to wear masks and maintain social distancing at all times.”

Earlier Wednesday, Governor Cuomo placed Port Chester in an “Orange Zone”. The school’s notice follows.

Dear Rye High School Families, Faculty and Staff,

The District was informed last evening of two additional individuals at Rye High School who have tested positive for COVID-19. The individuals are in quarantine and have not been at school since Friday, November 6. Today, we learned of two more individuals associated with Rye High School who have tested positive. They are also in quarantine and have not been in the school building since November 6. Contact tracing for all of the cases has been completed and no additional quarantining is necessary.

The increase in the number of cases at Rye High School is very troublesome. While COVID-19 rates are increasing in our area, it’s critically important to wear masks and maintain social distancing at all times.

We will continue to do everything in our power to keep the Rye High School community safe.
