New COVID Map Available – 13 New COVID Cases in Rye (& 86 Active) 608 COVID-19 Positives in Rye; 1,624 Westchester Resident Deaths – Wednesday, December 23, 2020

On Wednesday, Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer formally announced the County’s new COVID map. “The numbers add up,” said Latimer, who has been explaining the last several days there were data gaps and delays between the State and County dissemination of data.
The new map is interactive and is updated as information is made available from the State’s COVID dashboard. “Every data bullet comes from the State of New York” said Latimer, emphasizing the County has no role in the actual data collection.
Latimer thanked the County’s Department of Emergency Services and Department of Information Technology for the new dashboard, and called out by name Westchester County GIS Specialist Connor Lynch and Software Architect Ilir Tota for special recognition.
He did re-state the County has formally asked the state for hospitalization and fatality data by city / town. If and when this is provided by the State he promised to make it available. A final note on the map – it displays much better on a desktop vs. a mobile environment.
On the vaccine front, Latimer announced 3,466 hospital workers have been vaccinated so far (the first of the two schedule doses), and that EMS frontline worker vaccination starts Thursday.
For Wednesday, December 23rd, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers:
608 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
86 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 522 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
13 new COVID-19 cases
Just like everyone else, county executives look at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic and at the NY State regional monitoring dashboard to see our progress towards continued reopening.
Important to note expanded reporting now shows fatality data from all nursing homes in the State, including The Osborn in Rye.

Fatalities at Westchester nursing homes – The Osborn Home in Rye is reporting six (6) confirmed COVID-19 deaths and six (6) presumed COVID-19 deaths thru December 21st (that’s no new confirmed deaths since the prior update). There is no data from Rye Manor or Vienna Senior Housing.)
