11 New COVID-19 Positives in Rye; 2,159 Deaths in Westchester – Thursday, March 18, 2021
Remember that Rye guy and Westchester County boss George Latimer moved his COVID-19 briefings from daily to now twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays. So no briefing on the other weekdays, but we do expect to continue to post daily COVID-19 counts for Rye and Westchester County for the foreseeable future.
For Thursday, March 18, 2021, Westchester reported the following City of Rye numbers via the County COVID dashboard.
1,228 total COVID-19 cases since inception;
96 active COVID-19 cases (this assumes the remaining 1,132 have run the average two week contagion cycle and are no longer active);
11 new COVID-19 cases
As of March 15, 16.6% of Westchester residents have received both doses of either Moderna or Pfizer or the single dose of Johnson & Johnson. At his briefing today, Latimer spoke about COVID, but also addressed hate and bias crimes in wake of the anti-Asian bias shooting in Atlanta. Latimer and District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah launched the #SpeakUpWestchester Campaign designed to encourage residents to speak up if they become victim or witness a hate crime, bias or hate incident.
While hate incidents do not always violate the law, they should always be reported by those targeted and bystanders.
- If you need emergency assistance call 911
- If you were the victim of a violent attack, call your local police department.

Just like everyone else, county executives look at the NY State COVID-19 tracker for county and state level statistics on the pandemic and at the NY State regional monitoring dashboard to see our progress towards reopening.
