Boys Varsity Hockey Finishes Season with 7-6 Record
Rye Boys Varsity Hockey finished its season Thursday evening with a record of 7 wins and 6 losses. The team fell Thursday at an away game to ETBE (Eastchester/Tuckahoe/Bronxville Ice Hockey) 1-3.
“We wanted to take advantage of our depth and run our four lines against their two but we got into penalty trouble which took the flow away from the game and negated our depth advantage,” said Rye Boys Varsity Hockey Peter Thomas. “We knew going in that we would need to be able to put up some goals to win the game but they did a good job of getting sticks and bodies infant of our shots. It’s not the ending we had hoped for, as we expected to be playing one more game, but we have a lot to be proud of. We overcame a great deal of adversity with minimal practice, inconsistent ice times, and lack of a home rink to finish with the 3 seed overall and advance to the semifinals.”
Thursday evening Rye’s lone goal was scored by Liam Hurley (unassisted) and Anabelle Thomas made 41 saves for the Garnets.
