Rye High School security and our local police department had to respond to a bomb threat made in an online learning platform Tuesday. Everyone is safe.

School security determined it was not necessary to evacuate the building. The threat was made inside the game-based learning platform Kahoot. The school is working with Rye PD to investigate the threat and determine the student responsible.

Dear RHS Parents/Guardians,

Late this afternoon, we learned of an unspecified, anonymous, and vague comment about a bomb threat made by a student in an educational technology application. The comment was made via Kahoot (a game-based learning platform) during a class lesson. School security was notified and immediately began an investigation, searched the building and campus, and determined that it was not necessary to evacuate the building. We continue to investigate the matter with the Rye Police Department to identify the student involved with the post.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. The safety, health, and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff is our highest priority.

Thank you.

Martin Fitzgerald, Ed.D.

Interim Principal
