Memorial Day Ceremony @ the Jay Cemetery in the Marshlands Conservancy

Jay Cemetery Association

There will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Jay Cemetery located inside the Marshlands Conservancy on Monday at 1pm. The cemetery, typically gated and locked, sits inside the Marshlands Conservancy (see this pinned location on Google maps). It is a fantastic opportunity to honor those that have served and see a piece of American history right in your own back yard.

Members of the Jay Cemetery Association, American Legion Post 128 and the Jay Heritage Center will gather for a socially distanced outdoor ceremony and reception to honor members of the Jay Family who served our nation.

The program will take place at the private cemetery that jurist and peacemaker John Jay established in Rye in 1804 and will be followed by refreshments outside the Jay Mansion. Unless they open the locked private drive, you can park at Marshlands and follow a foot trail to the area. For more information, contact JHC Executive Director Kevin Peraino at [email protected].
