Rye Waits While Other Local Municipalities Move to Require COVID Testing
In the wake of the rise of the COVID Delta variant, and the federal government and New York State mandating a vaccination requirement of its employees, local municipalities are walking down the same path of consideration.
On Wednesday, Yonkers announced a testing requirement for municipal and school district employees and on Thursday New Rochelle said it would tell employees they need to be vaccinated or face routing testing.
Rye is taking a wait and see approach. “There are no changes/announcements at this time,” City Manager Greg Usry told MyRye.com Thursday afternoon. “We are obviously aware of the actions announced by the State, and subsequently by New Rochelle and Yonkers.”
“As we did throughout last year, we are working with the State/County and other resources to make informed decisions. The safety of our employees, and our residents and visitors is of the upmost importance.”
