Rye Signs New Contract with City Manager Usry, Making Things Permanent
It’s permanent.
At its last meeting, the Rye City Council approved a new employment contract with City Manager Greg Usry, making the position permanent. Usry was made an “interim” manager in October 2019 after the swift departure of his predecessor, Marcus Serrano.
Usry’s new contract runs four years and five months, until December 31st, 2025, at a rate of $215,000/year salary. The amount is up from the $195,000 paid to former manager Serrano and to Usry during his interim status. The position also afford health coverage, 20 days vacation, 10 days sick leave and five days of personal time annually. Rye provides a car for business and local travel.
The Mayor and five council members voted in favor of Usry’s contract. Councilwoman Sara Goddard abstained due to the Goddard and Usry families being close friends. Usry has a professional background in municipal finance and holds a BS in Financial Management and Accounting from Clemson University.
