As of Sunday afternoon, the impacts of Hurricane Henri on Rye have been mild. “So far we are just seeing a little bit of flooding on Kirby Lane,” Mayor Cohn told MyRye.com shortly before 1pm. The City had just passed the first of two high tides during the storm at 12:05pm Sunday.

Given Con Ed was “severely chastised” by the Public Service Commission on its poor response to Tropical Storm Isaias a year ago, Cohn sounded cautiously hopeful should Con Ed need to spring into action if widespread power outages occur.

Earlier on Sunday during a County press briefing Emergency Services Department Deputy Commissioner Susan Speer warned “there will be flooding on the Sound Shore” reminding residents of the triple threat – two high tides during the storm surge, a full moon and high winds.

The National Weather Service has a flash flood warning in effect for Rye until 5:45pm Sunday.
