Newest Rye PD Officer Sworn In
The City has a new police officer. Rye PD’s newest member, Stefano Silvestri, was sworn in Monday at City Hall by City Clerk Carolyn D’Andrea, Esq.
Acting Public Safety Commissioner Mike Anfuso, after extending a welcome and his congratulations to Silvestri, said to the assembled family, officers and city staff “we get him fresh from the streets of Mt. Vernon… the good thing for is is he was a park ranger [at Rye Playland] from 2010 to 2014, so he is familiar with our area and our streets.”
Silvestri was most recently a police officer in Mt. Vernon since January 2020 and graduated from the Westchester County Police Academy in May 2020. He worked for Phelps Hospital as a security officer from February 2019 to January 2020 and prior to that worked at the Westchester County Department of Corrections from August 2018 to February 2019 He graduated from the Corrections Academy in November 2019.
From 2010 to 2014 Silvestri worked as a Playland Park Ranger. He is trained in crisis intervention, CPR/first aid and is taser certified. He is a graduate of Westlake High School and is fluent in Italian.
