Continuing the parade of Garnet opponents with a Dutch heritage, the eerie squad from Ichabod Craine’s and Rip Van Winkle’s Hudson Valley ‘hood trot into Nugent for what has become a traditional horse race of former SWIAC foes. These tilts are always scary, never sleepy, but the SLEEPY HOLLOW HEADLESS HORSEMEN have snoozed, like Rip, for over twenty years while the Garnets galloped to a 29-12-1 .707 nightmarish record.
The sinister “Hollow Hit” chant coupled with the horseshoe helmets give the RED and WHITE an aura and mystique unmatched in Section One and beyond Washington Irving’s fables. These specters have one win in twenty years and 2021 will be the same story for these stampeding spirits – another “Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.
