Garnet Football Edged by Somers 26-23
Rye Boys Varsity Football was edged by Somers 26-23 on Friday night in a game that could have easily gone either way. Rye will travel to Section 9 Middletown High School next Friday for a 6pm game versus Minisink Valley.
“We made some big plays, they made some big plays and in the end they just had one more big play than we did,” Rye Boys Varsity Football Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com. “I don’t think many people felt we had a chance but I thought we could have won the game.”
“We had a couple of miscues,” said Garr. “We had to start twice on the one yard line – plays that should have never gotten to that point.”

Asked about his assessment of the Minisink Valley match-up next Friday, Coach Garr said “They’re a tough rugged team. They are big and strong – you know everybody is bigger than us – when you get to this level its going to be quality teams playing each other.”
