In Memory: Morgan Patrick Kaplan, Age 17
Morgan was was taken from us suddenly and prematurely last Thursday, November 18th in Rye, NY, leaving his loving parents Tara and Laurence, his sisters Caitlin and Shannon and, of course, the newest member of the family, Winnie the Labrador. He leaves his close friends and family to fill the hole in their hearts and wondering why he left us so soon.
Morgan Patrick Kaplan was born on October 18, 2004 in New York City and passed on November 18th, 2021. Morgan lived his entire life in Rye, attended Midland Elementary School and then Rye High School, where he competed as a member of the Rye High School golf team and participated as a member of the school band and drumline. Morgan was an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours on his mountain bike and ski trails of his beloved Stratton Vermont with his friends and siblings, in search of the perfect egg sandwich. He cherished his days boating on the water with his family and hardly a weekend went by without a late night, raucous Dungeons and Dragons gathering. Morgan was an avid historian and voracious reader. He could recount historical battles from memory and filled his room with books and papers, creating his own library of history books. His spirit will live on at The Apawamis Club on the golf course, the squash and tennis courts and, of course, the 19th hole where he never met a burger he didn’t like.
We pray that Morgan found peace and we look forward to seeing him again at the big Vermont country store in heaven.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Rye Presbyterian Church, New Orleans Youth Group mission.
