MyRye.com is featuring varsity team MVPs from the Fall 2021 sports season. The MVPs have been selected by each coach. A big MyRye.com congratulations to all the MVPs.

Rye Boys Varsity Soccer MVP is senior Jack Formon.

“Jack Formon was selected by a vote of his teammates as MVP of the 2021 team,” said Rye Boys Varsity Soccer Coach Jared Small. “He was a three-year varsity player, a true anchor of the backline with his vocal and team-first brand of leadership, and the consummate sportsman.”

“After playing limited but impactful minutes as a sophomore—which included one massively important assignment in a 4-3 win in the NY State Regional semifinal against Union-Endicott—Jack became an everyday starter these past two years,” Small continued. “All told, he made 25 starts and 36 career appearances between 2019-2021. On the field, Jack was always able to lock down the best players on the opposing team, including two all-America candidates from Mamaroneck and Somers this season. As a leader, Jack’s consistent desire to maintain high standards of conduct amongst the team always ensured we moved in a positive direction. He welcomed Rye Youth Soccer players at our halftime games, organized community service efforts in the aftermath of Ida, and his teammates ultimately recognized him as their MVP for his efforts both on and off the field.”

Other winners of the team’s annual player-selected awards included:
Most Improved – Charlie O’Rorke
Rookie of the Year – Henry Field
Miller Family Heart Award – Tim Desmond
Byrnes Family Scholarship – Ryan Kovacs
