Rye Middle School student Jack Anderson has gone fishing.

On behalf of Rye PD, Police Officer Justin Keeney awarded Anderson with a $25 gift card to Bass Pro shops for thwarting vehicle theft.

This past Saturday, 14 year-old Anderson was leaving from a friend’s residence on Forest Avenue when he observed a teenage male wearing all black clothing rummaging through the family’s vehicles. Jack confronted the male, who then he fled on foot down the driveway, onto Forest Avenue and towards Playland Parkway.

“Thanks to Jack we only had one reported car larceny this weekend, his action prevented us from having multiple other victims,” said Rye PD in a statement.
