Boys Swimming Sends a Wave Over Wappingers

Rye Boys Swimming & Diving sent a wave over Wappingers Friday, winning its first match of the season 91-81.

“We placed 1st and 2nd in the 500 free last night,” said Rye Boys Swimming & Diving Coach Kelly Johanson. “Sophomore Will Soviero placed 1st and 7th graders Filip Glitterstam placed 2nd. Glitterstam also placed 3rd in the 200 free.”

Other game highlights included:

  • Freshman Ethan Zhou placed 1st in both of his events- the 50 free and 100 free
  • Freshman Michael Ladyzhensky placed 2nd in both of his events- 100 Fly and 100 Breast
  • 8th grader Finlay Sutherland won diving
  • Our 200 Free relay won- Laverty, Capaldi, W. Redd, T. Redd
  • Sophomore Bryan Laverty placed 2nd in both the 200 free and the 100 back

The season shifts to 1-6. The team swims against Peekskill 5pm on Tuesday.
