27 Bullet Proof Vests Donated to Ukraine by Rye PD
The City of Rye Police Department is donating 27 bullet proof vests to the country of Ukraine.
Previously used by members of the Rye PD, “These vests have exceeded their life expectancy and are surplus property with no value that will otherwise be destroyed and discarded,” said Public Safety Commissioner Michael Kopy in a memo to the City Manager Greg Usry.
The Rye PD was contacted by Blue to Gold Law Enforcement Training – the company has been seeking expired vests from police departments around the country to be donated to the Ukraine for their use. The city council approved the donation Wednesday evening.
