Arrest in Downtown Rye Burglary
A suspect was arrested after a commercial burglary was reported on Elm Place in the City of Rye. On Monday March 28, 2022, at 6:25 p.m., Rye officers responded to a report of a stolen Laptop from an office located on Elm Place. Officers were aware there had been recent commercial burglaries in the area.
Upon arrival, officers were given a description of the suspect obtained from the building manager’s security camera. Additional officers responded and saw a party matching the description of the suspect. The party was stopped on Theodore Fremd Avenue and identified as Abner Morisset Jr, age 42, of Brooklyn, New York.
Morisset was found to be in possession of burglary tools, the stolen MacBook, and cash. Morisset was booked on charges of burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, and possession of stolen property.
Detectives are conducting follow up to determine if Morisset can be linked to any other crimes.
