Girls Varsity Lacrosse Delivers Bear Hug to Hendrick Hudson in Double OT
Rye Girls Varsity Lacrosse delivered a bear hug to Hendrick Hudson in double OT Wednesday, winning the away game 8-8.
“Rye won a double overtime battle with Hen Hud today 8-7,” said Rye Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach Michelle Mason. “Karenna Chader made a critical save at the end of the first OT to send teams into the second OT. Makenzie Chimento and Lilly Whaling tag teamed to win the draw and get the Garnets possession. Caroline Doyle drew the foul, got fouled again on her first 8m and then buried her shot to win the game!”
Ella Buckley scored tying goal with 3:55 left in the half. Della Goodman gave the Garnets the lead as second half wound down, but Hendrick Hudson capitalized on next draw. Whaling/Chimento came up with critical draw control and freshman Caroline Doyle found back of net to win in sudden victory.
The season is now 6-2 for the Garnets. Varsity plays John Jay Cross River at 4:30pm on Friday.
