In a letter, Rye resident John Cronin calls your attention to a moment in Rye sports history with standout sports moments from five Rye residents across professional baseball, collegiate lacrosse and professional soccer.

Sunday, May 8th, 2022. A memorable day in Rye sports history!

Multiple Rye products made an impact on some of the world’s biggest stages including, George Kirby (24, Rye High School graduate) who made his Seattle Mariners debut (stats included), Colin Moran (29, Rye product, Iona prep high school) had a grand slam and a 2-run HR for the Cincinnati Reds, Brendan Lavelle and Emmett Carroll (RHS graduating class of ’20) won the Ivy League Lacrosse Championship, and James Sands (21, Rye product, Brunswick High School) played his first full 90 minutes without substitution for Rangers Sporting Club in Scotland.

All of this today… It’s not everyday you see Rye producing at the highest level. All athletes that were mentioned are below the age of 30. A new wave?
