RHS ’16 Grad George Kirby Pitches His Second MLB Game at Citi Field
After pitching his first MLB game on Mother’s Day, Rye High School 2016 graduate George Kirby came to New York and Citi field to pitch his second game against the New York Mets.
A few hundred family and friends from Rye turned out to show support, and Kirby caught the attention of Mets manager Buck Showalter who said “The kid from Rye, I’m sure he has a lot of emotions going on, but he’s the real deal. … Very impressive. I think the first thing that jumps out about this young guy is his command.”
Here is a sampling of some of the local media coverage:
“He was crying. We were all crying.”
