Burglary & Assault on Milton Point
The Rye Police Department has made an arrest after a burglary and assault in Rye’s Milton Point neighborhood in the early hours of Wednesday morning, August 17th.
At 2:00am Wednesday, Rye officers responded to a report of three men entering a Rye residence on Stuyvesant Avenue. The residence was occupied at the time by the family and guests. One male party assaulted a member of the household then fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Upon arrival, officers were able to gather information from the victims that assisted in the identification of the male party that committed the burglary and assault. Shortly after the response, officers apprehended the suspect without incident. The suspect was identified as Robert James Arquit, age 18, of Harrison, New York.
Arquit was booked and arraigned on the charge of Burglary in the Second Degree and is due back in Rye City Court September 13th 2022. No further information on the other two men was immediately available.
The Rye PD reminds residents that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
