Girls Varsity Soccer Polishes their Bracket at Hall of Fame Tourney

Rye Girls Varsity Soccer polished their bracket at the Soccer Hall of Fame Tournament on Sunday, taking a second win in as many days. The Garnets delivered heat to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, taking the win 4-1.

“Rye took an early 1 – 0 lead with a head goal off an assist from Bowyn Brown 6 minutes into the first half,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “Maddy Walsh scored off an assist from freshman defender Claire Niemsick. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake battled back scoring a shot from 30 yards out just before the end of the half.”

The start of the second half was a battle with both teams generating many scoring opportunities. At the 24th minute of the half, Reese Lejuez scored her first goal of her varsity career off an assist from Bowyn Brown. Della Goodman added an insurance goal with 8 minutes left in the game.

Karenna Chader was solid in the back of the net for the Garnets. With the win today, Rye won their bracket of the Soccer Hall of fame tournament.

The season stands 3-0. Rye will host Pearl River on Tuesday night at 7:00pm – watch it.
