New Amphitheater & Rec Superintendent Rogol Thanked for 37 Years
Everybody really likes her.
The community showed up Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the retirement of our Rye Recreation Superintendent Sally Rogol and witness the ribbon cutting of her swan song, the new amphitheater at the Rec on Midland Avenue.
The comments from Rogol and the heir apparent Erin Mantz, captured in the videos below, will tell the story the best (as well as our recent piece Our Recreation Sheriff Rides Off After 37 Years) but the event was full of love for Rogol and her 37-year commitment to Rye.
After Mayor Josh Cohn announced the new lower pavilion will now be named the Sally Rogol Pavilion, a line of our local officials presented one official proclamation after another. State Senator Shelly Mayor issued a proclamation from the NY State Senate, State Assemblyman Steve Otis issued a proclamation from the State Assembly, County Executive George Latimer issued a proclamation from the County and Catherine Parker issued a proclamation from the Board of Legislators.
American Legion Post 128 Commander Fred de Barros then presented what looked like it would be a fifth proclamation to Rogol but after the formal event clarified to MyRye.com it was a certificate. This writer cannot remember any equivalent pomp and officiality in the City of Rye.
Watch the remarks from Mantz and Rogol and the ribbon cutting of the new amphitheater.
