Gas Main Projects Downtown Happening Now & Again in January
‘Tis the season … for gas main replacements downtown.
Con Edison has been busy performing upgrades to the School Street gas main impacting the half of School Street adjacent and up to Purdy Avenue. The work started late last week and is expected to continue until mid-month with work activity Monday to Saturday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. There will be service disruptions in the area – those impacted will be notified by Con Ed.
The anticipated Purchase Street gas main replacement project will start in early January. The gas main will be replaced from Theodore Fremd to Locust Avenue. It is anticipated that this project will take three months.
On the upside, the City Council approved free metered parking for the holidays in Car Parks 1-6 beginning on Saturday, December 17th until Monday, December 26th.
