Arrests for Order of Protection Violation & Car Theft
Local Rye police have made two separate arrests this week.
Order of Protection Violation on Maple Avenue
On Monday, March 27th, Rye Police PD responded to a report of an Order of Protection Violation at a residence on Maple Avenue. Officers subsequently arrested Transito Torres, age 41 of Port Chester, for Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Torres was transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing, then taken to the City of Rye Court for arraignment.
Stolen Vehicle on Playland Parkway Ramp
On Tuesday, March 28, Rye PD arrested Josiah Noel, age 20 of South Ozone Park, NY for criminal possession of stolen property 5th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. On Tuesday morning around 8:26am, a Rye Police Officer observed a vehicle illegally parked on the Playland Pkwy ramp off the Boston Post Road.
An investigation determined the 2007 Infiniti G35 occupied by Noel was reported stolen to the NYPD in October of 2022. Noel was transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing and was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Rye Court for a later date in April.
Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
