Slavin: Healthy Home is a nationally certified, vertically integrated, full-service home energy efficiency and home improvement company. Our team is proud to offer:

  • comprehensive whole home evaluations
  • insulation installation
  • whole home air leakage reduction measures
  • indoor air quality improvement measures (filtration and air purification)
  • fossil-free heating & cooling installation

What will your company be doing at Rye Sustainability’s Net-Zero Cities Fair on Saturday, May 13th?

Slavin: Healthy Home will be at Rye Sustainability’s Net-Zero Cities Fair on Saturday, May 13th to table and talk to homeowners about their concerns. Whether it be cold drafts or poor indoor air quality we are there to offer guidance. We will review our process with homeowners to let them know what we can do and if we can help the lower their carbon footprint and improve the overall health of their home.

When thinking about clean energy and home energy efficiency, what are two or three things a homeowner should consider for the biggest impact?

Slavin:

  1. Reduce your home’s heating and cooling load by implementing home performance measures to keep the conditioned air where it should be.
  2. Ensure your heating and cooling equipment is properly sized by ensuring there is a complete evaluation of the thermal envelope.

What are some of the ways available to finance these clean energy options? And what sort of industry rebates, incentives and government tax incentives are available?

Slavin: There are both financing and incentive opportunities through the New York State Energy Development Authority Comfort Home Program. There are incentives for fossil free HVAC equipment (Air source heat pumps and geothermal) through the New York State Clean Heat Program (which is distributed through your electric utility). Many companies (including Healthy Home) also offer financing options through private lenders.

What are some of the ongoing maintenance and safety issues with clean energy systems, and how does this compare with older oil and gas systems?

Slavin: All electric HVAC (such as air source heat pumps or geothermal) simply can’t be compared to combustion (oil or gas fired) equipment. It is much cleaner, literally, sincere there is no combustion occurring. Fossil free equipment maintenance is substantially lower; simply requiring the cabins and filters be cleaned at regular intervals.

Thank you, Lexi!
