A 16-year-old female was assaulted early Thursday morning at Rye Town Park. Rye PD is actively investigating the incident.
The incident took place on Thursday at 12am Midnight at the Rye Town Park on Forest Avenue between Dearborn and Oakland Beach Avenues. The 16-year-old female victim reported being initially engaged in conversation with the suspect before being tackled and assaulted.
The suspect threatened that he was armed with a knife although no weapon was displayed. The assault was interrupted by a security officer at the park. The suspect is described as a tan skinned male approximately 6 feet tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing grey sweat pants, tan/brown canvas boat shoes and a black hooded sweatshirt/zip-up with the hood pulled over his head. The sweatshirt had the word “Blackbird Company” embroidered across the suspect’s left pectoral in white lettering. The suspect was last observed running on Oakland Beach Avenue toward Milton Road.
The Westchester County Police and the Westchester County District Attorney are assisting the Rye Police Department with the investigation. Any person with information is urged to call the Rye Police Department at 914-967-1234.
Can we know the name of the officer please? I think he/she should be rewarded. This is his/her job, but still a reward should be given for his/her bravery and saving the girl. I have a small check ready. I want to ask other Rye citizens to join me in recognizing his/her excellence. In this town, good deeds are promoted. I also hope anyone who has a tip, please come forward. Hopefully this scumbag will be caught soon. I don’t want to blame the victim. However, parents should remind their girls safety guidelines, such as never walk alone after certain hours or in certain places, use some common sense!
