A former manager at the Snackery Bakeshop on Purchase Street has made off with $100,000 in dough. It appears former bakeshop manager Paul Dipietro of Eastchester, age 36, was cooking the books in addition to baking the Carrot Cake Twinkies that go for $4.25 and the chocolates chip cookies that command $3.50 a piece.

Dipietro was charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree, a class C felony, after allegedly stealing over $100,000 dollars from the store last year. The arrest was the culmination of an 11 month investigation involving Rye PD detectives and forensic accountants from the Westchester County District Attorney’s office.

The funds were sifted from the bakeshop’s credit card and employee payroll service. Cookie monster Dipietro, who began work at the Snackery in 2021, was terminated in 2022 after the bakeshop had rising concern about the missing dough. The Rye PD was then contacted and initiated the 11 month investigation. This is Dipietro’s first offense.

Dipietro turned himself in on Tuesday, July 18th to Rye Police where he was processed and released on his own recognizance. Dipietro is due back in Rye City Court on August 1, 2023 at 9:30 am. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
