This past Tuesday August 1, at approximately 6:30 pm, Rye Police Officers responded to the Ramapo Police Headquarters to pick up 25 year old Qasim Muhammed of Newark, New Jersey on an open bench warrant.

Muhammed had failed to appear for a court appearance stemming from a July 25, 2022 felony arrest out of the City of Rye for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Muhammed was transported to Rye Police Headquarters, processed and charged with Bail Jumping in the 2nd degree. Muhammed was arraigned in Rye City Court and held on $2500 cash bail at the Westchester County Correctional Facility.

Rye PD reminds you booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
