Rye Girls Varsity Field Hockey was hooked by Horace Greeley in its season opener. Horace Greeley polished the Garnets 5 – 3 in the away match-up.
It was a “tough season opener for the young Rye team against a strong Horace Greeley team,” said Rye Girls Varsity Field Hockey Coach Kelly Vegliante.
Goals for Rye were scored by:

- Caroline Doyle assisted by Kate Morreale and Lilly Whaling
- Beau Whaling assisted by Lilly Whaling
Chloe Holden was in goal for Rye and had ten saves.
